Oh, that's such a shame Aimee, but yes, we do listen to people who we think are helping. Never mind, never too late to give it a try. Shame you don't live closer, you could have borrowed one of mine:)
If you speak to Carole at Dr Cook's Bitless Bridles, she is awesome! They all are, but I have only dealt with Carole, now my 5 horses each have their own, plus 4 other people have bought them after seeing my guys do so well. One of my friends had a pain of a horse that would always try to go. He still gets excitable, but has never tried to run off......... I wouldn't recommend them to anyone if they didn't work, that's why all my horses have their own. You can't lose, you can return it if you don't like it........ I'm sure you will though:) Everyone I know is happy with them, even the guy with the mule. lol
Aimee, thanks for starting the gaited horses! I have a Tennessee Walker (23yrs), Fox Trotter (22yrs) and a Fox Trotter (3yrs, stinker) I also have a Quarter/Hackney/Welsh (3yrs) and a Quarter horse. I have given the Quarter horse to my son, I would never be without a gaited horse again. Both my older ones came to me with bits, one was a severe bit hiked up his face, that went in the trash immediately! The other had a milder bit. ALL my horses are now in Dr Cook's Bitless Bridles. I ride them in the Wilderness around the farms checking fence and also in Parades, they behave SO much better without bits in their mouths and they are even gaiting better. I even feel I have more control!!!!! Just thought I would add that in. We live in a gorgeous valley in Eastern Oregon and have the 'Blue's' to ride in as often as time and snow allows......
