Welcome to the world of interactive marketing. That my area of expertise. I've been in it for over 10 years and still get a kick out of eCommerce; a very dynamic and profitable industry for those that have the mind to do it correctly. If you continue, remember this and it will serve you well; the clarity of your value prop is the single best thing you must convey. Whether the page is content or an order form think about what you want the person to do. Rate your business objectives 1 - 10, when you get the design back, rank 1-10 what sticks out the most and then evaluate it against your business objectives. If they don't stack up, you won't get the conversion you're after. I could go on and and on, I'm super passionate about this stuff but I'll leave it at that :)
Best of luck to you in your endeavors.
