I'm a super late bloomer to the world of horses. I always wanted to learn how to ride as a kid but it just wasn't in the cards at the time; an expense my parents couldn't afford back then.
Flash forward, oh I don't know - 30 something years on and here I am! I took a lesson to help my 8 year old daughter feel more comfortable (she likes to evaluate everything before she joins in and I thought by seeing/watching what I did, the expressions on my face, and that I was doing it any way would help), funny thing about that day though, by the end of it I was hooked! I took a second lesson the week after to see if I still felt the same and at the end of the lesson, wrote out a check for a the next quarter's lessons.
I'm about 8 weeks in now. I've learned to stop, start, steer, groom, parts of the bridle, how long stirrups should be, mounting and dismounting, and we're working on Sitting Trot, and Posting Trot.
We took our Level 1 written test last week. Me and the 8 year olds did good! :)
